Adriene Thornton named a Black healthcare leader to know by Becker’s

Children’s Minnesota would like to congratulate Adriene Thornton, MAOM, BSN, CIC, FAPIC, manager of health equity at Children’s Minnesota, for being honored as a Black healthcare leader to know by Becker’s Hospital Review. The leaders recognized in the 2023 edition of the list are credited with working tirelessly to advance their organizations and communities.

As a highly skilled nurse with previous experience managing outbreaks, Adriene supported leaders on the Hospital Incident Command System (HICS) team during the COVID-19 pandemic. As part of this team, she was charged with coordinating a system-wide response, including monitoring and implementing recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH). She also led Children’s Minnesota outreach efforts to bring COVID-19 vaccines to marginalized communities.

According to Becker’s, the list honors Black leaders for their commitment to the health care field – noting that their viewpoints are crucial to the foundation of organizations, programs and partnerships that foster health equity and inclusion.
