Anu Kalaskar, MD, and Erin Turner, MD, promoted to senior medical directors

MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL (June 4, 2025) – Children’s Minnesota is excited to name two senior medical directors in the specialty pediatric services division. Effective immediately, Anu Kalaskar, MD, has assumed the role of senior medical director of specialties; and Erin Turner, MD, has assumed the role of senior medical director of hospital medicine.

Drs. Kalaskar and Turner join Rob Sicoli, MD, senior medical director of emergency medicine, and Sue Kearney, MD, senior medical director of cancer and blood disorders and diagnostic therapeutic services, to round out the division’s senior leadership team. All report to Aimee Sznewajs, MD, who recently assumed the role of clinical vice president of specialty pediatrics following the retirement of Susan Sencer, MD.

As senior medical director of specialties, Dr. Anu Kalaskar will provide guidance and support to our specialty medical directors, including infectious disease, immunology, endocrinology, gender health, wound care, nephrology, child abuse, pain and palliative medicine, sleep medicine, cystic fibrosis and ciliary dyskinesia clinics. An early priority will be ensuring the diverse specialties reporting to Dr. Kalaskar have effective representation in organizational initiatives.

As senior medical director of hospital medicine, Dr. Turner will oversee all hospitalists at Children’s Minnesota. Hospitalists are among the first faces kids see when they’re transferred to an inpatient or observation unit. Additionally, the medical leadership for sedation and procedural services (SPS), and medical toxicology and addiction medicine will report directly to Dr. Turner.
