Children’s Minnesota is proud to announce that Keisha Powell, director of equity and inclusion, has been named a Twin Cities Business 2026 Notable Diverse Leader. The recognition honors leaders who are advancing inclusion, developing others and creating positive change in their organizations and communities.

“Keisha’s recognition as a Notable Diverse Leader is both well-earned and meaningful for our organization,” said James Burroughs, senior vice president of government and community relations and chief equity and inclusion officer at Children’s Minnesota. “Her leadership helps strengthen our culture, elevate employee voices and advance equity in ways that positively impact our workforce and ultimately the children and families we serve. We are proud to celebrate her achievements and grateful for the example she sets every day.”

Keisha launched the Inclusive Leadership Certification Program, a 7-month curriculum for clinical leaders. The program helps leaders build intercultural competence and create more inclusive team environments. Early results show participants are strengthening their ability to address bias, foster accountability and support belonging across teams.

Other highlights of Keisha’s achievements include:

  • Expanding Children’s Minnesota’s employee resource groups from six to nine.
  • Leading Children’s Minnesota’s first external ERG summit, which brought together 17 organizations to share ideas and best practices.
  • Guiding the organization’s first internal ERG leadership summit to support and develop ERG leaders.

Keisha’s influence also extends beyond Children’s Minnesota. She has presented the organization’s equity and inclusion strategy at the Children’s Hospital Association (CHA) annual conference. She now serves on a steering committee that helps shape programming for future CHA conferences.
