Children’s Minnesota is pleased to announce that its summer equity internship and summer nurse internship programs have been named among the “Best Internships for Diversity” by Vault. More specifically, the programs were ranked #68 for “2025 Best Internships for Diversity with Respect to Women.“
Vault surveyed thousands of current and former interns about their internship programs, asking them to assess their experiences on a variety of different factors. Recognizing the importance of a diverse and inclusive environment, Vault has devoted a separate section to interns’ ratings with respect to diversity. The 2025 rankings are based on the results of the Internship Survey conducted in the summer of 2024. You can view the full list here.
Summer equity internship program
The summer equity internship program partners with local community organizations to offer internship experiences in clinical and non-clinical areas throughout the organization for college and high-school-level youth. The internship is a part-time paid role for 20 hours a week for 10 weeks during the summer in various departments, from ambulatory, rehabilitation and child life to human resources, foundation and marketing. During the summer, interns not only complete projects for their department, but also participate in leadership sessions to learn about topics such as diversity, public speaking, teamwork and networking.
Student nurse internship program (SNI)
The student nurse internship program is a full-time, 10-week paid internship for pre-licensure nursing students in the summer between their junior and senior years. It provides students with the opportunity to utilize the nursing process, improve prioritization and time management skills, grow communication skills, and develop reflective thinking related to nursing practice — all with the support of nurse preceptors. Interns are hired into the neonatal, critical care, med/surg, peri-operative, inpatient mental health and ambulatory care areas.
