Children’s Minnesota’s Developmental Pediatrics clinic receives donated care packages from Twin Cities Autism Foundation

On Friday, Twin Cities Autism Foundation delivered 50 custom backpacks filled with special goodies for patients in the Developmental Pediatrics clinic at Children’s Minnesota’s Minneapolis campus. This event coincides with Autism Acceptance Month in April. The care packages included a custom puzzle hand-drawn by Matty Olson, the son of Twin Cities Autism Foundation co-founders, Kent and Laura Olson; among other fun items for kids in the program.

“As the kid experts in developmental pediatrics, Children’s Minnesota is thrilled to partner with Twin Cities Autism Foundation because these backpacks, puzzles and other items will help make a difference in the lives of our patient families,” said Dr. Rebecca Vaurio, neuropsychologist at Children’s Minnesota. “The Developmental Pediatrics clinic designs creative, personalized treatment plans to help kids tackle the world, and Matty Olson’s creative puzzles are a new resource we have to support the kids in our care.”

“Today is the result of a labor of love at Twin Cities Autism Foundation, and we’re so happy to partner with Children’s Minnesota to help care for the kids in this important program,” said Kent Olson, co-founder of Twin Cities Autism Foundation. “I get emotional thinking about how every time a child works on one of the puzzles drawn by my son, Matty, he’s connecting with another child with autism through his artwork.”
