What inspired you to want to work at Children’s Minnesota?

Dan, clinical systems integration engineer

“To be honest, I was a full–time musician who needed benefits, so I took a job in the dietary department washing dishes. That job led to roles in the mailroom, radiology, registration and nursing administration before coming to IT. During this time, I was able to take advantage of a Children’s Minnesota tuition reimbursement program and finish my bachelor’s degree. Throughout my roles, I have worked with amazing people and found a great appreciation for what we do at Children’s Minnesota.”

What do you love most about your job?

“I really enjoy trouble-shooting issues that arise, the constant learning in a changing environment and helping end-users when they encounter problems.”

What do you want patients, families and staff to know about the work you do?

“Even though you may not see the work we do in IT, we really care about being able to help the clinicians give world class care to our patients.”

Do you have a favorite memory from working at Children’s Minnesota?

“There’s too many to list. Almost all of them have to do with the kindness of my co-workers to each other and the patients!”

What do you think makes kids remarkable?

“Their resiliency to be happy in the face of obstacles and impossible challenges.”
