Medical lab scientist shares her two-year career experience at Children’s Minnesota

Aerielle CapesAt Children’s Minnesota, we believe children always come first. They are awesomely resilient. Eternally optimistic. Totally fearless. They are what we want to be when we grow up.

Aerielle Capes, medical lab scientist, has been working at Children’s Minnesota for two years now. She is sharing all of her favorite things about her career below.

What’s your position and how long have you been at Children’s Minnesota?

“I am a medical lab scientist in the Minneapolis and St. Paul laboratories, and I have worked here for two years.”

Tell us why you like your job and position.

“It is important that patients receive the best care they can get, and working in the lab allows me to take part in that care. I enjoy working behind the scenes and helping health care providers diagnose and treat the kids at Children’s Minnesota. It is a fast-paced and at times challenging job, but I love doing what I do.”

What do you like about working in this field/department?

“The work lab professionals do is important and it feels great to know we’re making a difference even with minimal patient contact. Being able to work in multiple departments within the lab keeps things from ever being boring and gives me a wide variety of knowledge and skills. The laboratory plays a key role in the care patients receive and it’s a team I’m proud to be part of.”

Why do you like working at Children’s Minnesota?

“It is great working somewhere that promotes the important values we have at Children’s Minnesota. And somewhere that allows people from different backgrounds to feel seen and heard. Being able to help ensure that kids will go on to have happier and healthier futures is rewarding.”
