Children’s Minnesota celebrates Social Work Week

At Children’s Minnesota, we celebrated Social Work Week from March 25-29!

Social Work Month is celebrated nationally during the month of March and we have designated this week to recognize and thank our social workers for all of their hard work.

This year’s Social Work Month theme from the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), “Elevate Social Work,” embodies the need to recognize the extraordinary contributions of the profession to our society. Dr. Marc Gorelick, Children’s president and CEO, signed the 2019 NASW Proclamation in support of our work ahead.

Children’s has a robust team of more than 50 social workers who provide clinical services 24/7. In 2018, Children’s social workers met with 9,943 individual patients and their families, contributing to more than 25,000 hours of clinical care.

Clinical social work services focus on the psychological and social impact of the health care needs on the family system. We assist patients and families with the physical, emotional and social issues and concerns that exist during a hospitalization.
