How Can I Get Motivated to Exercise?

Article Translations: (Spanish)

What motivation can I use to exercise when a workout buddy is unavailable?

Schedule a regular time for your workout. Treat your exercise time like an appointment you can't miss. Write it down or put it in your phone and set a reminder so you don't forget.

The best motivator, though, for sticking with an exercise program is having fun. Exercising doesn't have to be a drag. If a treadmill workout feels dull, get out and get your heart pumping doing something you like. Play frisbee with your dog. Turn up that playlist and dance! Play your favorite music while your run. Ride your bike in a scenic park. Choose from a variety of physical activities you enjoy.

If you can't figure out a way to keep motivated, sign up for a class or school sport — then you will feel committed and motivated. Plus, you may meet some new workout buddies.
