Histotechnician shares her career experience at Children’s Minnesota

At Children’s Minnesota, we believe children always come first. They are awesomely resilient. Eternally optimistic. Totally fearless. They are what we want to be when we grow up.

Danielle Payne, histotechnician, has been working at Children’s Minnesota since September 2022. She is sharing all her favorite things about working at Children’s Minnesota below.

What’s your position and how long have you been at Children’s Minnesota?

“I am a histotechnician and I have been with Children’s Minnesota since September 2022.”

Tell us why you like your job and position.

“I like being a histotechnician because I know we play a crucial role in helping patients get their diagnosis by preparing stained microscopic slides from tissue samples so that a pathologist can figure out what is going on.”

What do you like about working in this field/department?

“Working in histology I get to use so many of my skills every day: like troubleshooting, multitasking, communication and my technical abilities. While there are similarities day to day, the individual case needs give us a wide variety of tasks which keeps things interesting.”

Why do you like working at Children’s Minnesota?

“I like working at Children’s Minnesota because of the fun, friendly and inclusive atmosphere. It not only is inviting to patients, but also makes coming to work something to look forward to!”
