Thousands of physicians, researchers and allied health professionals from 60+ specialty areas came together to share research, explore new collaboratives, build career opportunities, establish meaningful connections and experience the best the pediatric research community has to offer.

Kelly Bergmann, MD

Dr. Bergmann is an Emergency Department (ED) staff physician. He is actively involved with research and currently serves at the Director of Research for the Department of Emergency Medicine.

Dr. Bergmann’s presentation was titled: 777 – Intravenous fluid bolus volume and resolution of acute kidney injury in children with diabetic ketoacidosis.

Tamika Lasege, MD, MPH

While at Children’s Minnesota, Dr. Lasege served as the chief value officer and the medical director of the Children’s Health Network (CHN) focusing on Value Based Care while continuing to practice clinically in the NICU. Dr. Lasege’s clinical interests include Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome, care coordination, preventative care, health equity, and social determinants of health.

Dr. Lasege’s presentation was on Friday, April 22, at 6:15 p.m. titled 242 – Reducing Racial Disparities in Rates of Mother’s Milk Provided at Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Discharge Using a Multifaceted Quality Improvement Initiative.

Ann Downey, MD, MBBS

Dr. Downey is an attending neonatologist. Outside of patient care, her main interest is the intersection of clinical excellence with quality outcomes.

Dr. Gonzalez Villamizar’s presentation was on Friday, April 22, at 6:15 p.m. titled: 279 – Randomized Trial of Early Enhanced Parenteral Nutrition and Later Neurodevelopment in Preterm Infants.

Erin King, MD

Dr. King is a hospitalist with the Children’s Minnesota hospitalist program and the director for medical education at our Minneapolis campus. She is also an associate program director at the University of Minnesota Pediatrics Residency Program.

Anupam Kharbanda, MD

Dr. Anupam Kharbanda is the chief of critical care services and a pediatric emergency medicine physician. Dr. Kharbanda has published numerous articles in the field of pediatric appendicitis. He is nationally recognized for his work on clinical pathways for the management of children in the emergency department setting.

Dr. Kharbanda’s presentation was on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at 3:30 p.m. titled: 375 – Racial differences in the diagnosis of Lyme disease in children.

Manu Madhok, MD

Dr. Madhok joined as staff physician in the emergency department at Children’s Minnesota in 2002. He has been actively involved with Fellow and resident education, and numerous research and QA/QI projects. He was the director of the Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship for 10 years.

Heidi Kamrath, DO

Dr. Kamrath is neonatal staff physician at Children’s Minnesota. She is an adjunct assistant professor of pediatrics at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Kamrath’s clinical interests include perinatal consultation and birth planning, care of the extremely preterm infant, neonatal ethics, medical education and quality improvement.

Aimee Sznewajs, MD

Dr. Sznewajs is the medical director of the pediatric hospital medicine program at Children’s Minnesota. She is involved nationally with the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), Section on Hospital Medicine (SOHM) as the pediatric hospital medicine club chair. In addition to training as a physician, Dr. Sznewajs trained and worked as a pediatric nurse and nurse practitioner.

Cristina Miller, MD

Dr. Miller is a neonatologist at Children’s Minnesota in St. Paul. She is also the medical director of the NICU Follow-Up Program and an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics within the University of Minnesota, Division of Neonatology.

Dr. Miller’s presentation was on Monday, April 25, 2022, starting at 1:30 p.m. Her session was titled: Feasibility of an Application-Based Home Monitoring Program for Premature Infants Discharged Home with a Nasogastric Tube: The Kid Experts™ At Home.

Andrew Kiragu, MD

Dr. Kiragu is a physician at Children’s Respiratory & Critical Care Specialists. He is also an associate professor of pediatrics at the University of Minnesota and an associate of the Children’s Respiratory and Critical Care Specialist’s group. He provides pediatric critical care at Children’s of Minnesota, Gillette Children’s Hospital and Hennepin Healthcare. He is a Fellow of the American College of Critical Care Medicine and the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Dr. Kiragu’s presentation was on Monday, April 25, 2022, at 8 a.m. His presentation was titled: 3055 – APA Charting the Future of Injury Prevention SIG.

Katherine Braski, MD

Dr. Braski is a neonatal staff physician at Children’s Minnesota. She is board certified in Pediatrics and Neonatology. Dr. Braski enjoys caring for critically ill neonates in the NICU and her clinical interests include the care of infants with congenital diaphragmatic hernia, ECMO, and pulmonary hypertension.

Dr. Braski joined a presentation on Monday, April 25, 2022 at 3:30 p.m. titled: 73 – Cerebral and Splanchnic Tissue Oxygenation are Chronically Affected in Premature Infants with Ductal- Dependent Congenital Heart Disease.

Gabrielle Z. Hester, MD, MS

Dr. Hester is a pediatric hospitalist at Children’s Minnesota and the medical director of quality improvement within the department of value and clinical excellence. She is interested in quality improvement, patient safety, health equity, and health services research as well as the care of hospitalized patients.

Dr. Roby is a pediatric otolaryngologist. She has been involved in the American Academy of Otolaryngology, American Cleft Palate Association, American Society of Pediatric Otolaryngologists, and served on numerous committees.
