The Mother Baby Centers at United and Mercy recognized among best hospitals for maternity in the U.S.

The U.S. News & World Report’s inaugural list recognizes hospitals for their overall quality of care for uncomplicated pregnancies.

ST. PAUL/COON RAPIDS (DEC. 7, 2021) – The Mother Baby Center, a partnership between Allina Health and Children’s Minnesota, is pleased to announce two of its hospitals have been named among the Best Hospitals for Maternity by U.S. News & World Report. The inaugural edition of this award recognized The Mother Baby Center at United and Children’s Minnesota and The Mother Baby Center at Mercy with Children’s Minnesota among high performing hospitals nationally.

This first edition of the list primarily evaluated hospitals for their overall quality of care for uncomplicated pregnancies, and reviewed data including:

  • Birth rate for cesarean delivery (C-section) among low-risk births.
  • Rate of unexpected newborn complications in term newborns.
  • Rate of exclusive breast milk feeding.
  • Confirmation of hospitals routinely offers vaginal birth after cesarean.

Of the nearly 600 hospitals across the country that shared their data, The Mother Baby Centers were among 237 to be recognized as High Performing. The U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals for Maternity aims to help expectant parents be informed about the hospitals where they receive maternity care for uncomplicated pregnancies.
