A gait trainer is a supportive walking aid for kids who need help walking and who need to strengthen their leg muscles. Gait trainers are often used in therapy and in school.
Kids who need help walking and can hold up their head, sit with minimal support, and bear some weight on their legs might need a gait trainer. If your child wants to walk but needs more support than they get from a walker, a gait trainer might be a good choice.
Gait trainers are ususally covered by insurance, but you might need to get proof of medical need from your child's doctor.
