Children’s Minnesota brings vaccines, mental health consults, book giveaways and fun to North Minneapolis block party

The Live Your Healthy Lyfe block party, aims to empower the Black community and elevate the quality of life for residents through mental, physical and spiritual wellness, education and activity offerings. 

Join Children’s Minnesota for the first annual Live Your Healthy Lyfe community block party on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2022! Live Your Healthy Lyfe is the first-ever health and wellness block party in North Minneapolis designed to empower the community to build trusting relationships with health and wellness experts, and provide an easier way to make healthy decisions. Children’s Minnesota is a sponsor and participant in this event by the Northside community for the Northside community! 

Live Your Healthy Lyfe will feature guided community conversations, health care screenings and vaccinations, mental health consultations, a variety of Black-owned vendors, art, music and more. The goal is to empower the Black community and elevate the quality of life for residents through mental, physical and spiritual wellness, education and activity offerings. 

Children’s Minnesota will exhibit at the event to offer various engagement activities to promote health and wellness for kids and their families. Some of the activities we’re offering include: 

  • COVID-19 vaccinations for kids and families. 
  • Mindfulness activities.  
  • Book giveaways for kids. 
  • Surveys to learn more about barriers to health care. 
  • A “melon drop” to demonstrate the importance of wearing a helmet while biking. 
  • Appearance from Twinkle, the Children’s Minnesota mascot. 

Event Details 

When: Saturday, Aug. 20, 2022, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

Where: West Broadway Ave. in North Minneapolis, between Penn Ave. and Logan Ave.
