Children’s Minnesota launches Shine Bright for Kids fundraiser to support children fighting cancer and blood disorders

Donations during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and Sickle Cell Awareness Month make a direct impact on the lives of thousands of children and their families

MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL (Sept. 3, 2024) — This September, Children’s Minnesota invites the community to help children fighting cancer and blood disorders by donating to Shine Bright for Kids. Donations during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and Sickle Cell Awareness Month allow the cancer and blood disorders program at Children’s Minnesota to deliver highly specialized and compassionate care to the thousands of children, and their families, in the region.

Give now to Shine Bright for Kids.

“Shine Bright for Kids is about more than raising money. It’s about providing hope, healing and the resources necessary to ensure every child fighting cancer or a blood disorder receives the extraordinary and compassionate care they deserve,” said Jennifer Soderholm, president of the Children’s Minnesota Foundation. “With the community’s support and the deep commitment of our kid experts, we can make a difference in the lives of children as they face the many challenges that come with a diagnosis that no family plans for.”

The community can support Shine Bright for Kids by donating directly to Children’s Minnesota, creating their own fundraiser, or shopping at one of the participating businesses. Donations help ensure cancer and blood disorders patients have access to the latest treatments, research and innovations as well as the healing support of child life specialists, music therapists, art therapists and social workers. Donations also fund financial counseling and assistance, helping alleviate some of the financial burden on families so they can focus on the care of their child.

The Shine Bright for Kids campaign includes a generous matching gift of $25,000 from Prime Therapeutics for Give to Kids Day on Sept. 12, and many more partners.
