Kid expert appointed to the Council for Minnesotans of African Heritage

In a move towards fostering inclusivity and promoting health equity, Gov. Tim Walz has appointed Ellena Kaine-George, a health equity coach at Children’s Minnesota to the Council for Minnesotans of African Heritage. In Ellena’s role at Children’s Minnesota, she is known for facilitating optimal communication between patient families, staff, physicians, directors, managers and leaders within the organization.

The role of the Council is to advise the state legislature and governor on issues confronting African communities in Minnesota, ensuring that the community’s voices are heard at the highest levels of state governance.

In addition, the Council works to engage Minnesotans of African heritage in the legislative process, provide opportunities to get involved and information needed to navigate the legislative process. More information on the Council for Minnesotans of African Heritage can be found here.

Ellena’s appointment was effective July 1st, 2024.
