No-show appointment process

We understand that life can be busy and sometimes plans change. However, when you miss an appointment without letting us know, we can’t offer that time to another patient who might need it.

To help us care for as many kids as we can, starting Jan. 1, 2025, we have a new no-show appointment process for our primary, specialty, mental health therapy and rehab clinics. If you miss more than three appointments within a year, it may affect your ability to schedule appointments at Children’s Minnesota.

No-shows

A no-show is considered not showing up for a scheduled appointment and failing to contact the clinic to cancel or reschedule prior to the scheduled appointment.

We will send you a text or email if you have no-showed an appointment. Patients may be put on an alternative scheduling plan if they have three no-shows within a rolling twelve-month period. After three no-shows within a year, a final notice letter will be sent to the patient’s home address on file. Your child may return to regular scheduling after one year if they do not miss any appointments.
