Children’s Minnesota aerodigestive clinic

If your child has trouble breathing, eating and swallowing due to complex medical issues, we can help. Children’s Minnesota aerodigestive clinic offers a comprehensive and coordinated approach to care that you won’t find anywhere else in the area.

Patients who benefit from our program

Patients in aerodigestive are referred to us by other specialists because they may have interconnected health issues. Many of our patients have medical and surgical airway problems, chronic cough, recurrent pneumonia and noisy breathing as well as swallowing and feeding concerns. Common reasons for referral are subglottic stenosis (narrowing of the airway below the vocal cords) and chronic aspiration.

How we can help

When you visit the aerodigestive clinic at Children’s Minnesota, you can rest assured that your child is in good hands. Our specialists have the knowledge and experience needed to effectively treat aerodigestive conditions and a passion to see your child thrive.

Our clinic has specialists from multiple pediatric disciplines including ear, nose and throat (ENT); gastroenterology; pulmonology; and speech and swallowing therapy. We also work closely with our pediatric surgery, radiology, and cardiothoracic surgery teams as needed

We take a ‘big picture’ approach to care. Your child will receive all of the care they need at one time and in one place, instead of having multiple appointments and procedures at different locations. Coordinated care means fewer trips to the operating room, less anesthesia, and hopefully less stress for your whole family.

The best care starts with good communication. We view you and your child’s referring medical providers as part of our team. Together, we’ll discuss your child’s challenges, treatment options and progress.

Every child is unique; that’s why we tailor a personalized care plan that best fits your child’s combination of needs. We also understand that children are more than their medical conditions and are committed to supporting their overall health and well-being.
