Meet our pharmacogenomics (PGx) program team
When you want answers, you want to talk to experts who work as a team to provide leading-edge care for your child. Families who come through our clinic door at Children’s Minnesota meet with a genetic counselor as well as an experienced pharmacist with additional training in PGx.
If you’re visiting the PGx program at Children’s Minnesota, here are the team members you and your child may see:

Our PGx program has a team of caring people who make sure your child’s test results are used correctly. They help your child’s doctors find the right medicine and the right dose as quickly as possible:
- PGx Pharmacists look at many factors including PGx test results to figure out the best medicine and the right amount for your child. Our pharmacists have completed extra education and training in pediatrics and PGx ensuring they are The Kid Experts(R) in medicines.
- Genetic Counselors meet with patients and families to help explain every step involved in the pharmacogenomic testing process. Genetic counselors provide educational and support materials to make sure you have the information you need.
- Pharmacogenomics Administrator makes sure your child’s test results are added to their medical record, puts together patient reports, and might help set-up your child’s appointments. The pharmacogenomics administrator does many tasks to make your visit to our clinic as easy and smooth as possible.
While not a regular part of the clinic, geneticists are available for medically complex patients who need additional consultation beyond the scope of pharmacogenomics.
- Geneticists diagnose, evaluate and manage genetic conditions. Our pediatric geneticists underwent three years of training in pediatrics in addition to their medical genetics training. Some have additional training in biochemical genetics. Our pediatric geneticists are well respected for their diagnostic skills and work hard to find answers for families.
