Children’s Minnesota ranks among Best Children’s Hospitals in U.S. News & World Report

MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL (June 14, 2022) – The Kid Experts at Children’s Minnesota have once again been recognized as a Best Children’s Hospital by U.S. News & World Report, sharing a ranking for cardiology and heart surgery with Mayo Clinic, as well as ranking for pulmonology and lung surgery and nephrology.

The 16th annual Best Children’s Hospitals rankings recognize the top 50 pediatric facilities across the U.S. in 10 pediatric specialties. The Mayo Clinic – Children’s Minnesota Cardiovascular Collaborative ranked No. 40 in cardiology and heart surgery. Children’s Minnesota ranked No. 45 for the joint nephrology program in partnership with the Masonic Children’s Hospital and No. 48 in pulmonology and lung surgery.

“We are honored to have the highly-specialized care our kid experts provide to be recognized by U.S. News & World Report,” said Dr. Marc Gorelick, president and CEO of Children’s Minnesota. “We are extremely proud of our teams for always putting kids first and going beyond what is expected for our patients and their families.”

The Mayo Clinic – Children’s Minnesota Cardiovascular Collaborative provides comprehensive pediatric cardiovascular services – from routine care to advanced cardiac surgeries, from before birth and into adulthood. As part of the collaboration, physicians from each of the programs provide services at the other’s location, expanding coverage and improving educational opportunities.

This is the ninth time that Children’s Minnesota’s pulmonology program has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report. Seventy percent of critically ill children’s conditions are primarily due to pulmonary complications. With a focus on diagnostic, therapeutic and preventative services, the pulmonology program provides care for pulmonary disorders such as cystic fibrosis, asthma, neuromuscular disorders, chronic lung disease of prematurity (BPD), bronchitis, pneumonia, croup and other conditions.

Children’s Minnesota’s joint nephrology program with the Masonic Children’s Hospital offers consultation on and management of a wide range of kidney diseases in children, from the most common to the most rare.

The annual Best Children’s Hospitals rankings and ratings are designed to assist families and their doctors in making informed decisions about where to receive care for challenging health conditions.
