Caroline Njau honored as a Notable BIPOC Executive

Caroline Njau, senior vice president of patient care services and chief nursing officer, has been recognized as a 2023 Notable BIPOC Executive by Twin Cities Business.

The magazine honored Caroline’s work to recruit nurses in a tight and competitive labor market, which included expanding the cohort sizes for the organization’s Transition to Practice program for newly licensed nurses. The evidence-based program successfully bridges the gap between academic preparation and clinical practice.

In addition, Caroline is intentional in ensuring that nurse recruitment efforts are supporting the diversity goals of the nursing workforce – and Children’s Minnesota. In 2022, 20.6% of all the organization’s registered nurse (RN) hires in patient care units were nurses of color.

Caroline is also involved in organizations within her community to continue to work, educate, care for and support others. She is a member of the Women’s Health Leadership TRUST, American Organization of Nursing Leadership and Minnesota Organization of Leaders in Nursing. She serves as the vice-chair of the Susan Morrison School of Nursing Advisory board at the University of St. Thomas
