The Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) and facial plastic surgery program at Children’s Minnesota is proud and excited to announce the additions of Asitha Jayawardena, MD and Andrew Redmann, MD. These amazing and talented surgeon-clinician scientists provide increased breadth and depth to our already nationally recognized program for the care and research of children with disorders of the ears, nose, and throat.
Dr. Asitha Jayawardena
Dr. Jayawardena’s clinical interests include minimally invasive, endoscopic ear surgery and airway surgery. His research interests include understanding access to care issues in low-resourced settings and improving surgical outcomes in these settings through innovative yet accessible technology, education, and patient/family-centered care.
He completed his undergraduate degree at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota, before attending medical school at the University of Iowa. He completed his ENT residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, and his ACGME-accredited pediatric ENT fellowship at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
His practice is based on the Children’s Minneapolis campus although he also shares his time with our partners based at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital. He enjoys spending time with his wife and two young daughters, and is excited to finally return to the Midwest.
Dr. Andrew Redmann
Dr. Redmann’s clinical interests are in the treatment of complex aerodigestive disorders and otologic surgery, but what he enjoys most is the extraordinary privilege of taking care of children. His research interests are primarily in the field of bioethics and surgical decision making, with a focus on understanding how parents and surgeons collaborate to make the best decisions for patients.
He is a western Wisconsin native and attended medical school at the University of Wisconsin. He completed his ENT residency and ACGME-accredited pediatric ENT fellowship at the University of Cincinnati and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.
His primary practice is based on the St. Paul campus, but he does expect to share his time with our Minneapolis campus and the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital. Outside of work he enjoys running, reading, the Green Bay Packers, and spending time with his wife and boys.

Children’s Minnesota’s Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) and facial plastic surgery clinics diagnose and treat routine and complex conditions in newborns, infants, children and adolescents. We are the only Pediatric ENT Program in the Upper Midwest dedicated exclusively to kids. Our program provides a full range of ENT and facial plastic and reconstructive surgery services, including prenatal counseling, advanced imaging, cochlear and bone conducting implantation, and innovative surgeries for cleft and craniofacial disorders. Our programs are accredited with the American Cleft Palate Association. Children’s Minnesota is verified as a Level I Children’s Surgery Center by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Children’s Surgery Verification Quality Improvement Program.
