Mpls.St.Paul Magazine showcases Children’s Minnesota kid experts on advancements in pediatric care in 2022 Top Doctors

In addition to more than 170 Children’s Minnesota physicians selected by Mpls.St.Paul Magazine as 2022 Top Doctors, several Children’s Minnesota kid experts were featured in an in-depth article highlighting enhancements in delivering outcomes. Dr. Anne Bendel, director of neuro-oncology at Children’s Minnesota; Dr. Mark Bergeron, a medical director of the neonatology program at Children’s Minnesota; and Dr. Andrew Kiragu, critical care specialist at Children’s Minnesota; were interviewed for a 2022 Top Doctors Special Report. Dr. Lisa Saul – former president of the Mother Baby clinical service line at The Mother Baby Center, a partnership between Allina Health and Children’s Minnesota – is also featured on the cover of this year’s magazine.

In the showcase – Delivering Better Outcomes: the future of critical care for mothers and newborns – the three Children’s Minnesota physicians shared key insights into how their work contributes to advancing pediatric health care.

  • Dr. Bendel explained how she and her team specialize in treating kids and young adults with tumors on the central nervous system (CNS), and the impact her research is having in pediatric CNS cancer treatment. She highlighted how experts are starting to see improvement in patient survival rates due to the groundbreaking research being done at facilities such as Children’s Minnesota.
  • Dr. Bergeron spoke about his passion for caring for the most fragile babies as a neonatal and perinatal physician. He also highlighted how Children’s Minnesota is pioneering new resources to care for babies born early such as the The Kid Experts™ At Home monitoring program, and the Children’s Minnesota Neonatal Virtual Care program.
  • Dr. Kiragu shared key insights with readers about what he is currently seeing on the frontlines as a pediatric critical care physician. This included how Dr. Kiragu believes both the direct and in-direct impacts of COVID-19 are still some of the biggest health concerns children face today.

Congratulations to these top doctors and all of The Kid ExpertsTM at Children’s Minnesota selected for this recognition! You can read the full feature article, and see the complete list of 2022 Top Doctors in the July issue of Mpls.St.Paul magazine.
