Children’s Minnesota is honored to share that its Runaway Intervention Program (RIP) is one of the Schwartz Center for Compassionate Care’s 2023 Corman IMPACT Honors recipients. In addition, Children’s Minnesota’s “The Role of Bias in De-escalation” training course is among the 2023 Corman IMPACT Honorable Mentions.
The Corman IMPACT Honors celebrates Schwartz Center health care members who are making a transformational impact on their organizations or systems by creating programs or initiatives that promote compassionate, collaborative care. The word IMPACT stands for Innovative Member Programs Advancing Compassion and Teamwork.
Runaway Intervention Program
The Runaway Intervention Program is a service of the Midwest Children’s Resource Center (MCRC) at Children’s Minnesota. It’s a structured home visiting program that provides one-on-one support to youth through home and community visits by a nurse practitioner and counseling services. The program’s goal is to restore a healthy developmental trajectory for runaway and homeless adolescents who have been victims of sexual abuse or exploitation.
“The Role of Bias in De-escalation” course
“The Role of Bias in De-escalation” interactive simulation training course puts health care providers face-to-face with live actors portraying parents of kids in high-stress medical situations. Throughout each course, participants – including clinical staff and organization leadership – have the opportunity for self-reflection and to identify personal biases. As a group, participants also engage in guided practice with facilitators to learn and use new techniques to provide equitable care to all patients.
