Overview
Children’s Minnesota neonatology program encompasses the largest high-risk neonatal care program in the Upper Midwest with nearly 200 neonatal beds. Our fetal intervention program is also nationally recognized for exceptional clinical outcomes. Children’s Minnesota neonatology provides everything from consults to air and ground transportation for babies in need. We are committed to consistent care across the community, limiting unnecessary variation, identifying and spreading best practices, and rapidly addressing opportunities for improvement.
Services offered
- Level II-IV NICU
- High-risk delivery support at The Mother Baby Center locations
- 24/7 regional neonatal transport with specialized neonatal nurse practitioners and respiratory therapy team
- Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO)
- Inpatient and outpatient lactation consultations and complex feeding support
- Developmental and rehabilitative care including: physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, child life specialists, dieticians, music therapy and massage therapy
- Consultations for high-risk prenatal and pediatric subspecialty care
- Neonatal cardiovascular program, including complex cardiology, cardiac surgery and neonatal hemodynamics program
- High-risk fetal diagnosis, intervention and surgery offered through The Mother Baby Center Specialty Services
- Neurodevelopmental and small baby programs
- Neuro-NICU program
- Ophthalmologic and retinal services, including retinopathy screening
- Mild systemic hypothermia (MSH) for infants with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE)
- General and specialty surgical services
- Psychosocial assessment, support and referrals
- Respiratory support
- Inhaled nitric oxide therapy
- Noninvasive, conventional and high-frequency ventilation
- Diagnostic testing
- Apnea testing
- At-home apnea monitoring
- Infant pulmonary function testing
- Screenings, including CCHD and hearing
- Long-term neonatal follow-up
- The Kid Experts® At Home monitoring program, including NG tube home feeding support program
- Virtual consultation services for neonatal stabilization (for partnering organizations)
