Arrhythmia monitoring

Until recently, intermittent heart rhythm disorders have been difficult to capture because they rarely happen during a clinic or hospital visit. Portable EKG monitors with high-quality EKG tracing capabilities provide families with continuous or on-demand monitoring when symptoms are present. Several types of devices are used at Children’s, including 24-hour Holter testing, King of Hearts Express®, Cardiomemo, and Heartrak™.

Children’s team members are available to physicians for immediate EKG interpretation via fax, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and by arrangement outside clinic hours. Interpretations typically can be faxed back within one hour. For more information on these services, please call Children’s Heart Clinic at 1-800-938-0301.

For more information on arrhythmia monitoring, see the Pediatric and Congenital Arrhythmia (PCA) Program.
